SAS is a statistical software package and programming language for data management, analysis, and reporting. Comprehensive and powerful, it is the tool of choice for “power users” and those who need to manage complex data sets on a regular basis.

This workshop will provide an introduction to SAS, including entering data, data management, and descriptive statistics. Attendees will receive an introduction to working in the SAS environment and an introduction to basic coding, including entering data and importing data, editing data sets, and variable transformation. Additionally, an introduction to PROC MEANS and PROC FREQ will be included as methods of generating descriptive statistics and generating frequency tables. The session will be hands-on, with the opportunity to ask questions at the end. The workshop is presented by the University Libraries and the College of Education Research Assistance Center, and the instructor is Dr. Sara Tomek, the center’s director.
