Title | Mystic Krewe of the Druids |
Date | 1996 |
Description | In 1992, a small Mardi Gras party was held at Michael’s Lounge in Tuscaloosa to raise money for West Alabama AIDS Outreach. The Mystic Krewe of the Druids (the name is based on Tuscaloosa’s nickname as “The Druid City”) began the next year. They held Tuscaloosa’s first Bal Masque in 1994 to raise money for WAAO; that same year, AIDS was declared the leading cause of death among all 25-to-44-year-olds in the United States. This page from the third annual Bal Masque program explains a bit more about the Mystic Krewe. |
