| Description | Incorporated in June 1977, Lambda, Inc. was an organization created to serve the political needs of the LGBTQ community in Birmingham, Alabama. After the Internal Revenue Service questioned its tax-exempt status, Lambda, Inc. became a strictly educational organization with a separate political action committee, PRO-PAC. The organization published the Alabama Forum as part of its educational objective. Lambda, Inc. was the first major LGBTQ organization in the state of Alabama, and was instrumental in bringing together a community and inspiring future organizations and action. |
