LGBTQ History Month Events Flyer

LGBTQ history month flyer
Title LGBTQ History Month Events Flyer
Date circa 2010
Description LGBT History Month was founded in 1994 by Rodney Wilson, a Missouri high school teacher, who chose the month of October to coincide with the already-established National Coming Out Day on October 11 and with the remembrance of the first National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights on October 14, 1979. LGBT History Month was endorsed early on by several organizations, including the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GSLEN), the Human Rights Campaign, GLAAD, and the National Education Network. This flyer for The University of Alabama’s LGBT history month events advertises a talk by Durham, North Carolina-based civil rights activist Mandy Carter.
Donor Materials in this collection were given by multiple donors, including David Miller, Annabel Stephens, Rose Gladney, and Joshua Burford.
