Pride Parade 1989 Birmingham Photographs |
Title | Pride Parade 1989, Birmingham: Photographs |
Date | 25 June 1989 |
Description | Photographs from the records of the Birmingham-based Alabama Forum, an LGBTQ newspaper, depict images from the first Pride parade in Birmingham, Alabama, in 1989. The four photographs here–apparently prepped for use in the newspaper–show participants marching and waving signs, including a group from The University of Alabama’s LGBTQ student organization, then called Gay/Lesbian Support Services (G/LSS). In the second image, marchers can be seen holding a banner for the Tuscaloosa Lesbian Coalition. |
