Description Founded by David Gilbert in 1990, Southerners: Lesbians and Gay Men in New York, Inc. was created as a way for LGBTQ people from the South to enjoy a support network and work collectively “to alleviate the homophobia” of the region from a distance.  The back page of the flyer outlines the goals of the potential organization and actions the exiled community could take to increase visibility and awareness.
