Did you know that a UA student magazine, Farrago, interviewed Bear Bryant at the beginning of the 1968-9 season?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/purl.lib.ua.edu\/35206\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Farrago cover\" src=\"https:\/\/acumen.lib.ua.edu\/content\/u0002\/0000009\/0000006\/0001\/u0002_0000009_0000006_0001_2048.jpg\" width=\"80%\" height=\"80%\" \/><\/a>If you click the cover image above and read the article on page 5, you&#8217;ll find that while some things about Alabama football have changed, others have stayed the same.<\/p>\n<p>This is true of all the issues of <a href=\"http:\/\/acumen.lib.ua.edu\/s\/all\/_and\/_contains_all\/title\/farrago\">Farrago<\/a>, which means &#8220;confused mixture.&#8221; In the magazine&#8217;s pages, humor rubs shoulders with politics, and student issues still familiar to us mingle with problems unique to the late 1960s.<\/p>\n<p>For example, we don&#8217;t have to tackle the subject of draft dodging anymore (see <a href=\"http:\/\/purl.lib.ua.edu\/35203\">May 1968<\/a>), but we never seem to tire of debating the pros and cons of the Greek system (see <a href=\"http:\/\/purl.lib.ua.edu\/35202\">March 1968<\/a>). Complaints about parking are certainly not new (see <a href=\"http:\/\/purl.lib.ua.edu\/35205\">Sept. 1968<\/a>) &#8212; and this was back when the Capstone didn&#8217;t even charge you to register your car!<\/p>\n<p>And maybe you can also take comfort in the fact that finding an apartment in Tuscaloosa has apparently never been easy&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/purl.lib.ua.edu\/35206\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Farrago cover\" src=\"https:\/\/acumen.lib.ua.edu\/content\/u0002\/0000009\/0000005\/0017\/u0002_0000009_0000005_0017_2048.jpg\" width=\"80%\" height=\"80%\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Welcome back, students!
