In our fourth pedagogy series (check out our first<\/a>, second<\/a>, and third<\/a> series), we are covering the new exhibition going up in the W.S. Hoole Library lobby on the second floor of Mary Harmon Bryant Hall.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

\"WallCase-1Option2\"<\/a>

A wall case from Artifacts of Ancestry<\/em>, now on display<\/p><\/div>\n

Dr. Cardon’s three sections of English 103<\/a> — honors composition\u00a0— this fall researched their ancestry and then created\u00a0an online exhibition<\/a> based on their work as a class project. The online exhibition, which was mandatory, was coordinated by the Alabama Digital Humanities Center<\/a>.<\/p>\n

These projects did\u00a0not have to use Special Collections, but students could elect to employ\u00a0our materials if they wanted to participate in the opportunity to create a physical display which would be mounted in the lobby of the W.S. Hoole Library.<\/p>\n

Each of the selected\u00a0projects to be used in the physical display had to include the\u00a0following: at least one visual not from Special Collections (such as a family photograph), one item from Special Collections, and a\u00a0caption. The caption needed to tie the student’s family history together with the visuals he or she provided and the\u00a0materials they selected from the archive.<\/p>\n

For this series, we will be sharing Dr. Cardon’s curatorial essay introducing the project to her audience on Wednesday, one selected student display by Annemarie Lisko on Thursday, an interview with\u00a0Lisko about her experience on Friday, and photographs from the exhibition’s opening reception next Monday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
