\u00a0Chahta-Ima\u00a0<\/strong>(Like a Choctaw)<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThe whole of creation has a mystic sense, and breathes a divine language which is named poetry.\u201d <\/em>

The Lord spoke out
\n\u201cLet there be light.\u201d
\nAnd it was so.<\/p>\n

The smallest utterance
\ncan bring about
\na change
\na truth
\na life.<\/p>\n

Everything
\nis poetry.
\nEverything.
\nA child\u2019s first step
\nis poetry.
\nA crow in a tree
\nis poetry.
\nA cough in the night
\nis poetry.
\nA cut that heals
\nis poetry.
\nA cry to the Lord
\nis poetry.<\/p>\n

Why should I
\nnot listen when
\nanother man speaks?
\nOr when the river babbles?
\nOr when the wind whispers?<\/p>\n

Who is to say what a word
\nis
\nor
\nis
\nnot?
\nCreole
\nPatois
\nEnglish
\nFran\u00e7ais
\nChahta<\/p>\n

Let the man speak out.
\nLet him speak and be heard,
\nso that he might stop and listen.
\nLet the earth praise
\nthe Most High,
\nso that we might
\nlearn from it.<\/p>\n

I went to the forest
\nto speak His word
\nand to hear what
\nthe Chahta
\nand
\nthe Holy Spirit
\nhad to say.<\/p>\n

We are the Poet\u2019s spoken word.
\nI will rejoice and be glad in it.<\/p>\n
