Though he was born and raised in Bullock County, Alabama, and would eventually return there, he also lived for over four decades\u00a0in Kentucky, while\u00a0he\u00a0taught\u00a0at Bellarmine University. He was a prolific scholar and writer, producing creative works as well as teasing out the rich history of\u00a0Southern literature and culture, particularly from his home and adopted states. Of course, we know him best as a collector, one whose instinct for finding the value in the ordinary\u00a0as well as in the extraordinary was unparalleled.<\/p>\n<p>Not only was he a collector, but he was also a generous donor. We&#8217;ll have a tribute post here\u00a0in the days to come, with a more complete account of his impact on UA Libraries Special Collections. For now, you can get a small sense of\u00a0his legacy by looking at the dozens of <a href=\"https:\/\/apps.lib.ua.edu\/blogs\/coolathoole\/category\/collections\/wade-hall-collection\/\">blog posts<\/a> that reference\u00a0his collections.
