{"id":32,"date":"2011-05-16T14:36:42","date_gmt":"2011-05-16T14:36:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/apps.lib.ua.edu\/blogs\/digitalservices\/?p=32"},"modified":"2011-05-16T14:36:42","modified_gmt":"2011-05-16T14:36:42","slug":"newly-online-the-martha-young-papers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/apps.lib.ua.edu\/blogs\/coolathoole\/2011\/05\/16\/newly-online-the-martha-young-papers\/","title":{"rendered":"Newly online: Martha Young Papers"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>Martha Young of Greensboro, Alabama, was known for her studies of the dialect of Southern African Americans in the late 19th and early 20th century.\u00a0 She wrote and performed her writings to the <a title=\"Typed page of published reviews, circa 1920\" href=\"http:\/\/purl.lib.ua.edu\/78019\" target=\"_blank\">accolades of many<\/a>.\u00a0 Here&#8217;s an example of a <a title=\"Advertisement for recital by Martha Young at the Astor Gallerty, NYC, 1906\" href=\"http:\/\/purl.lib.ua.edu\/78013\" target=\"_blank\">recital advertisement<\/a> at the Astor Gallery in NYC on November 1906.<\/div>\n<div>The <a title=\"Martha Young Papers\" href=\"http:\/\/purl.lib.ua.edu\/32980\" target=\"_blank\">Martha Young Papers Collection<\/a> (MS 1597) contains many of the works (over a thousand!), as well as correspondence, photographs and  pictures, genealogical information on the <a title=\"Genealogy, Martin Tutwiler, circa 1920\" href=\"http:\/\/purl.lib.ua.edu\/77945\" target=\"_blank\">Tutwiler<\/a> and <a title=\"Genealogy, Young and Sitlington Families, 1926-1934\" href=\"http:\/\/purl.lib.ua.edu\/77982\" target=\"_blank\">Young<\/a> families,  and other miscellaneous items.
