Digital Services at the University of Alabama is hiring for two new positions:
\nDigitization Technologist<\/strong> and Digital Repository Manager<\/strong>!<\/p>\n

Digitization Technologist<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Digitization Technologist will analyze technical problems and devise
\nsolutions, as well as seek out methods for new and better functionality.
\nResearch into improved methods of delivery and preservation support is
\nexpected.<\/p>\n

The Digitization Technologist position requires an individual who is
\nself-motivated, curious, and eager to learn and explore. The successful
\napplicant will have a good base of understanding of a variety of
\ntechnologies related to digitization and digital libraries, and will be
\ncapable of quickly processing and integrating new technical information
\nand developments. This position requires strong analytical problem-solving
\ncapabilities and technical expertise. Command-line scripting capabilities
\nare expected.<\/p>\n

The Digitization Technologist will be involved in developing software
\nsupport for digitization, preservation and delivery work flows.
\nAdditionally, this position will be responsible for capture, quality
\ncontrol, optimization, gathering of administrative, technical, structural,
\nand descriptive metadata, and tracking, archiving and storage of resulting
\ndigital objects.<\/p>\n

The Digital Repository Manager<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Digital Repository Manager will be focused on the management and
\nsupport of our growing repository of content, as well as development of
\nsupport for new and better functionality. This person will research
\nsoftware developments in the field and potentially modify those we adopt
\nto meet our own needs. He or she would be deeply involved in
\ninfrastructure development and support for long-term access. The Digital
\nRepository Manager will analyze technical and work flow problems and
\ndevise and implement solutions.<\/p>\n

This Digital Repository Manager will be involved in developing and
\nmanaging software support for digitization, preservation and delivery work
\nflows. Additionally, this position will be responsible for capture,
\nquality control, optimization, gathering of administrative, technical,
\nstructural, and descriptive metadata, and tracking, archiving and storage
\nof resulting digital objects.<\/p>\n
