About Digital Services

The Digital Services Unit of the University of Alabama Libraries seeks to increase the visibility of and enhance interaction with unique research and scholarly materials.

Our digital repository, Acumen, contains over 100,000 items, including digitized special collections materials (manuscripts, images, audio, and more) and student dissertations and theses. For more on what’s in Acumen and how to search it, go to the help page.

Hi, I am currently a PhD candidate in the History Department who is also working as a contract archivist at the Birmingham Holocaust Education Center. I have lots of questions about the digitization process and would really love to talk to someone who has experience doing this with archival materials. If someone is available to talk to me, please let me know. I don’t know much about this process but since our collection is growing rapidly, I really need to gather at least some rudimentary information as soon as possible. I am on campus 4 times per week so I could drop by anytime. Thanks so much!
