||“On the Road to Equality” Announcement
||From August to October 2011, the Human Rights Campaign sponsored “On the Road to Equality,” a twelve-week bus tour to seventeen cities around the United States, particularly in the South and Midwest. The tour aimed to spread awareness of LGBTQ issues in the cities where it stopped, working with local communities to host events and holding workshops on topics such as workplace equality, school bullying, and religion. The tour stopped in Birmingham and Tuscaloosa, Alabama, in October.
