||The University of Alabama Gay/Lesbian Support Services Newsletter: The Lavender Tide
||Editors of this first issue of The Lavender Tide–the newsletter for The University of Alabama’s LGBTQ student organization, then called Gay/Lesbian Support Services (G/LSS)–noted they had received an overwhelming amount of material from potential contributors. The eight-page August 1989 newsletter includes a firsthand account from a G/LSS member who attended the first annual Pride Parade in Birmingham in June 1989, concerns about diversity within the G/LSS, and a note introducing a gay and lesbian reading group in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
