Description<\/td>\nA \u201cKiss Off\u201d was held on February 15, 1992, to raise the visibility of LGBTQ people on The University of Alabama campus. The gathering\u2014which drew about fifty participants–was sponsored by \u201cSeen and Heard,\u201d a group composed of straight and LGBTQ students. The \u201cKiss Off\u201d was organized in response to recent events at UA and at Auburn University, including a controversy about whether the UA Student Government Association would deny funding to the UA\u2019s Gay\/Lesbian Alliance. \u201cSeen and Heard\u201d also wanted to show support for LGBTQ students at Auburn, whose student senate had denied the Auburn Gay and Lesbian Association\u2019s application for a charter a few months before.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
