{"id":780,"date":"2016-03-25T08:29:54","date_gmt":"2016-03-25T13:29:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/apps.lib.ua.edu\/blogs\/rlib\/?p=780"},"modified":"2016-03-25T15:15:40","modified_gmt":"2016-03-25T20:15:40","slug":"oculus-rift-virtual-reality-at-rodgers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/apps.lib.ua.edu\/blogs\/rlib\/2016\/03\/25\/oculus-rift-virtual-reality-at-rodgers\/","title":{"rendered":"Oculus Rift &#8211; Virtual Reality at Rodgers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Experience virtual reality. \u00a0Oculus Rift arrives at Rodgers Library on April 1.\u00a0 \u00a0Oculus Rift is a virtual reality headset. \u00a0The headset and associated hardware is located in a large black box near the Rocket room on the 1<sup>st<\/sup> floor.\u00a0 To get started check out a key for the box at the Circulation Desk.\u00a0 The Rift features\/offers:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>OLED display<\/li>\n<li>Integrated headphones with 3D audio effect<\/li>\n<li>Rotational and positional tracking system<\/li>\n<li>3D space<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Some content is preloaded for users to test, including a handful of virtual worlds and 360 \u030a video examples. \u00a0The system is completely unrestricted allowing users full control. \u00a0The account is auto login, a local administrator account, so users can install programs if so desired. \u00a0Users can experiment and have the flexibility to do so.<\/p>\n<p>The system has the Unreal gaming engine installer and Unity for users to setup if interested in developing a virtual world.
