Spectrum LGBTQ history month |
Title | Spectrum LGBTQ History Month Flyer |
Date | 2011 |
Description | LGBT History Month was founded in 1994 by Rodney Wilson, a Missouri high school teacher, who chose the month of October to coincide with the already-established National Coming Out Day on October 11 and with the remembrance of the first National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights on October 14, 1979. LGBT History Month was endorsed early on by several organizations, including the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN), the Human Rights Campaign, GLAAD, and the National Education Network. This flyer from The University of Alabama’s LGBTQ student organization, Spectrum, lists their upcoming events for the seventeenth annual LGBT history month–including a visit from the Human Rights Campaign’s “On the Road to Equality” educational bus tour. |
