Introduction to SPSS

12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.

IBM SPSS Statistics is a collection of products used to access and manage data, select and perform analyses, and share results. It is available on computers throughout the University Libraries.
This workshop will provide an introduction to SPSS, including entering data, data management, and descriptive statistics. Attendees will learn how to enter data, navigate the SPSS module, edit a data set, transform variables, generate descriptive statistics, and generate frequency tables. The session will be hands-on, with the opportunity to ask questions at the end. This workshop is presented by the University Libraries and the College of Education Research Assistance Center, and the instructor is Dr. Sara Tomek, the center’s director.
Last semester, I asked attendees to share the most valuable information they learned in the Introduction to SPSS workshop. Here are some of their responses:
- Explaining terms on screen
- Just seeing the software and learning the basic data entry, etc.
- Graphing data sets!
- Information about graphing
- Most valuable: info about creating graphs. Overall, very helpful basic overview. Great explanations, very easy to follow.
- Good re-intro to SPSS
- Graphs/charts
- Good overview. Thank you!
