Biographical Information

Tim Dorsey was born in Indiana. When he was a year old, his family moved to Florida, where he grew up in Riviera Beach. For his last three years of high school, he attended Bishop Guertin High School, a Catholic boarding school in Nashua, N.H. He became interested in writing during this time and worked on the school's newspaper. After graduating from high school, Dorsey enrolled at Auburn University in Auburn, Ala. He majored in transportation, earning his BS in 1983. He also was editor of the student newspaper, The Auburn Plainsman. From 1983 to 1987, Dorsey worked as a police and courts reporter for The Alabama Journal in Montgomery. He moved to Tampa, Fla., in 1987 to work for The Tampa Tribune, initially as a reporter, later as an editor. While he was working for the Tribune, Dorsey began writing a novel. Florida Roadkill, the first of his "Serge A. Storms" mysteries, was published in 1999. That year, Dorsey resigned from the newspaper to write full time. Since then, he has published a new book in the series every year.
