UNIVERSITY ARCHIVE FACILITY CONSTRUCTION PROGRESS

First day of construction!

After three years of planning, construction of the University Archive Facility has finally begun! The structure that is approximately 15,000 square feet and will be built as an addition to the Library Annex.  Approximately 1/3 of the new building will be dedicated to space for Special Collections and 2/3 of the space will be used for general collections.   The area for Special Collections will be constructed to withstand strong winds.  Clean agent fire suppression equipment will be used throughout the new building, and high bay, mobile shelving will be installed to maximize use of the space.  The University Archive Facility is expected to be completed and ready for use by late fall, 2019. 


September 18 Update– Shelving was delivered this week and the vendor will begin installing it into the shelving frames. The project is moving along!

MAY 1 UPDATE- The installation of steel beams began today and the wall panels will arrive mid-May. The project remains on schedule and should be completed by fall 2019.
