Description While WWI was the “poster war,” this sticker advertising the sale of Victory Liberty Loans shows that visual communication was not limited to posters. At the bottom of the sticker are instructions for its application and removal from glass, meaning that the sticker could have been used on an automobile as a form of moving propaganda. The bold blue “V” for “victory” was likely connected with the drive to sell Victory Liberty Loans, which were offered following the completion of the war as a means to pay off war debts and assist returning soldiers. Set against a textured red backdrop, the large blue “V” above the writing “INVEST” sends an abundantly clear message.
