Description | This rare poster calling for employees of the Pennsylvania Railroad to purchase Liberty Loans demonstrates how propaganda was designed to connect with regional audiences. The poster communicates to workers the financial benefits of purchasing war bonds, and also frames such investments in terms of public safety and patriotism. Although the poster relies predominantly on words to inform and persuade, the use of red, white, and blue are a visual means to direct attention and imbue the message with a patriotic character. |
