Description | This poster created by George Illion for the U.S. Food Administration is part of a series aimed at persuading specific ethnic groups to change their dietary habits in support of the war effort. A major theme in the series is the appropriation of culturally recognizable figures and languages. In this case, the poster depicts an Italian soldier asking Italian-Americans to eat less meat, wheat, fat, and sugar so that the needed supplies can be shipped to citizens and soldiers of Italy. |
