Alabama Center for the Book

The Alabama Center for the Book supports reading, literacy, and other book-related activities in Alabama as well as promotes appreciation of regional writers. The Center is a founding co-sponsor of the Alabama Writers Hall of Fame and participates in the national Letters About Literature reading and writing contest.  In addition, we continue to work closely with the book arts community including the Book Arts Program in the  School of Library and Information Studies at The University of Alabama.

Our Strategies

Provide a physical presence for the Center in the University of Alabama Libraries

Co-sponsor literary events

Maintain an Alabama Literary Map

Collaborate with state and local organizations who share similar goals and interests
