Eugene Allen Smith was a professor of Chemistry and Mineralogy at the University of Alabama from 1871-1913 and served as Alabama State Geologist from 1873-1913. His entire photo collection is online as part of our digital collections. It spans more than four decades and contains photos of his many field trips, work as State Geologist and images of campus in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
